Holy cow! I was not expecting that! This book blew my mind. It was beyond amazing.
Ashes and Ice tells the story of Jade, a girl with no memories of her past and who is fighting a terrible battle to remain sane and to stop the darkness within her from taking over her life. She is plagued with horrible dreams and visions of murdered girls and she tries desperately to figure out what is happening to her. Along the way she meets Connor, who is trying to come to turns with the sudden death of his dad. Connor just wants to be invisible, to take the back seat so as to avoid the notices of the school bullies. But when Jade explodes into his life, he soon starts to emerge from his shell and begins to think that this girl is the one to pull him from his misery. They both need each other more than they realise.
The author has a magical way with words. The words flow effortlessly, with a lyrical quality to them. Every emotion is portrayed with such force and beauty that you can't help but get choked up on more than one occasion. I got so caught up in the story, I didn't want to put it down.
I can't tell you any more about the story because you need to experience it for yourself. But I will tell you this. This story will rock you to your core. It will stay with you long after you've finished. So be prepared to be amazed. And don't forget the tissues!
~ About the Author ~
Rochelle grew up dreaming up stories. When she entered high school, she tucked away her creative side and jumped head-first into academics, work, and service projects. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Political Science and Communication when she was twenty years old. After years away from her writing, Rochelle picked up a pen and started fleshing out a character sketch that she outlined when she was twelve. That sketch was the start of the Ashes and Ice story. Rochelle lives in the DC metro area with her husband and daughter. By day she works as a behavioral therapist. By night, she is a dreamer and is busy tapping out new stories on her keyboard.
