Today I am super excited to be featuring the amazing Sarah Alderson. Sarah's newest book, Out of Control, will be releasing in May and I cannot wait to read it!
Title: Out of Control
Author: Sarah Alderson
Publisher: Simon & Schuster UK
Expected publication: May 22nd 2014
Synopsis:
When 17 year old Liva witnesses a brutal murder she’s taken into police custody for her own protection. But when the police station is attacked and bullets start flying it becomes clear that Liva is not just a witness, she’s a target.
Together with a car thief called Jay, Liva manages to escape the massacre but now the two of them are alone in New York, trying to outrun and outwit two killers who will stop at nothing to find them.
When you live on the edge, there’s a long way to fall.
1) Describe Out of Control in the length of a tweet, 140 characters or less.
Heart-stopping action, heart-melting romance, heart-breaking reality.
2) Where did the idea for Out of Control come from?
I wanted to write about an issue I feel really strongly about: human trafficking. Also I have to admit Ryan Gosling in Drive helped inspire my main character.
3) Do you have a favourite quote from the book?
‘It’s OK to feel things, Liva,’ he says. ‘We’re meant to feel things –
we’re meant to feel everything – hurt, pain, anger, rage, grief.’
My eyes burn. I shake my head furiously. ‘I don’t want to feel those
things. I can’t. It’s too much.’ And suddenly I’m sobbing, endlessly, without
relief.
Jay holds me around the waist with one arm and uses his free hand to
lift my chin. ‘Liva,’ he says, ‘if you don’t allow yourself to feel those things,
then you’ll never be able to feel the good things either – happiness, or joy, or
love. You can’t have one without the other. That’s life. That’s how it works.’
4) If you could go on the run with any of your characters, who would it be and why?
Probably Liva because her father owns a private security company and she's grown up around bodyguards. She's really independent and smart, and she knows how to use a gun, always handy when you're being chased by the Russian mafia!
5) Do you have any tricks or methods you use to encourage your muse?
I read a lot. I scour news sites and magazines like The Atlantic and Salon. I read a lot of newspapers and watch a lot of good TV shows and movies.
6) Out of all your books, which was the easiest to write and which one the hardest?
Interesting question. The Sound was very easy to write. I just really enjoyed it and because I'd nannied in Nantucket and based a lot of the book on my experiences it was easy. Also I've just written a new adult book - Come Back To Me (under the pen name Mila Gray) and that was very easy to write, mainly because it wasn't a thriller so I wasn't having to piece together story lines and twists.
7) What do you like to do when you aren't writing?
Read! And hang out with my daughter. And eat ice cream.
8) What projects are you working at the minute?
I'm just finishing the Hunting Lila screenplay which has been a very intense labor of love stretching over more than a year. I'm working with some great producers who are very exacting on what they want which is good as it's really forced me to stretch myself. I also just finished my first new adult, wrote two new young adult thrillers for Simon & Schuster, am promoting Out of Control and The Sound and am about to start writing a feature film thriller. Yeah, I'm a little busy.

Author Bio:
Having spent most of her life in London, Sarah quit her job in the non profit sector in 2009 and took off on a round the world trip with her husband and princess-obsessed daughter on a mission to find a new place to call home. After several months in India, Singapore, Australia and the US, they settled in Bali where Sarah now spends her days writing by the pool and trying to machete open coconuts without severing a limb.
She finished her first novel, Hunting Lila, just before they left the UK, wrote the sequel on the beach in India and had signed a two book deal with Simon & Schuster by the time they had reached Bali.
A third book, Fated, about a teenage demon slayer, was published in January 2012.
The Sound, a thriller romance set in Nantucket, was published in August 2013. She has a further three thrillers due for release in the next few years.
