4/5
This was one roller-coaster of a book. So much happens in such a short space of time. My emotions couldn't handle it all. Many many secrets come out in Panic, loyalties are questioned and Rook must decide once and for all if she can finally let the past go and stop running.
I went through so many emotions during this. Frustration, love, anger, hate. My feelings for the characters kept switching back and forth. Ronin I love. I really do. But the dude needs to cool it with all the marriage and baby stuff. You're 22 dude! You've got plenty of time to settle down. I love how Rook told him she wasn't ready, that she wanted to go to college and everything first. We learn new things about Rooks past and my god I really don't know how that girl is still standing. The things she went through is just horrible. I felt sick at the thought of what was done to her. She has grown so much from the girl we saw in the first book. I love her and Ronin together but they were a bit too mushy mushy for me in this one. Some of the things they said, especially Ronin, were very soppy and that's saying something seeing as I'm a romantic and all. Saying that though I am sad that there story has come to an end.
We don't see as much of Spencer in this as I would have liked but we do see a lot of Ford. I swear I really do not know how I feel about him. One minute I was like "Dude, you're awesome" and the next I was like "Dude you crazy". He said some things that made me hate him but then the end, the epilogue, oh god my heart. I cried. When I heard he was getting his own book I was over the moon. I can't wait to learn more about this wonderful psycho.
The story has many twits and turns to keep you hooked. The ending felt a tiny bit rushed but overall it was a great ending to Rook and Ronin's story. I love this series and I'm sad to see it come to an end but I still have Spencer and Ford's books to look forward to. If you haven't read this series yet then I highly recommend it!
Favourite Quote:
“I'll ruin everything if you touch me. I'll ruin us. I'll ruin this. I'll ruin you, just like you said. I'll ruin you and I'll ruin your life. And I love you too much to ruin you. So I'm leaving.”
(Cue the tears!)
AUTHOR BIO:
J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).
She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
